Fuel reservoirs. - In a pyrophoric igniter, a wick-tube i projecting into a fuel receptacle k is provided at its lower end with a cap l having an aperture m, normally closed by a valve n, carried by a member o, which is provided with arms o<1>, resting in notches in the bottom of the receptacle, and with a spring o<2>, engaging under the cap l. A member s on a hinged lid b presses on the upper arm of a spring r, which passes round the axis of a friction-wheel e thereby causing the lower arm of the spring r to press downwards the head of a rod p, which passes through a tube q and a bracket o<3> and presses on the spring o<2>. On opening the hinged lid b, the pressure on the rod p is removed and the spring o<2> withdraws the valve n from the opening m to supply fuel to the wick and a hook f engages a pin g on the friction-wheel e and rotates the wheel against a piece of pyrophoric material d, held against it by a spring c, which opens the lid, to produce sparks for igniting the wick. The upper end of the rod p is formed with a flat part to allow vapour to escape from the receptacle @ through the tube q.
