Description
SPECIFICATION
Device for installation of winding coils into assembly barrel
This invention relates to devices for manufacturing, assembly, operation and repair of electrical machines and, in particular, to a device for installation of winding coils into an assembly barrel.
This invention can be used in electrical engineering in machines for assemblying windings and armatures of electrical machines.
Known in the art is a device for installation of winding coils into an assembly barrel of a machine for placing the winding into slots of magnetic circuits of electrical machines, comprising guiding stems carrying a slide bar provided with a reciprocating drive operating in the direction perpendicular to the motion of the slide bar along the guiding stems and a slab arranged at a specific distance above the sliding bar and carrying a member for locking and guiding winding coils and a spring-loaded pusher (Inventor's Certificate No. 691,195, IPC2 HO2K 15/06, published October 1979 in the Bulletin of Discoveries, Inventions, Industrial Designs and Trade
Marks, No. 38).
The accuracy of orientation of winding coils with respect to the slots of an assembly barrel in the known device is evidently insufficient and, consequently, the reliability of fitting of winding coils in these slots is poor. This can be accounted for by the fact that winding coils touch the spring-loaded rod which is the orienting and guiding member at the moment when the coil is freely suspended and can turn to a certain angle with respect to the plane of the slide bar because of the gap between the slide bar and the feed tray. If the winding coil turns, it cannot be gripped by the member for locking and guiding winding coils and, consequently, is warped, rejected as defective and is not placed into the slots of the assembly barrel. Moreover, even if the winding coil is gripped by the locking and guiding member, the slot portions of the coils can be disposed differently because of the varying width of coils and the plane of these coils can be mismatched with the axes of the slots in the assembly barrel.
According to the present invention there is provided a device for inserting winding coils into an assembly barrel, comprising upper and lower members guided for generally vertical movement, a groove in the lower member aligned with the direction of movement and accommodating a winding positioning device including a pair of parallel plates rigidly connected together and located at opposite sides of the groove, said plates having upper end surfaces located at different respective distances from said upper member, means for reciprocating the positioning device in a direction substantially normal to the groove to cause the plates to protrude from the groove and to be retracted into the groove, and a stop mounted on the lower member to the side of the groove against which said plate with the upper end surface nearer the upper member is positioned, whereby a winding coil of generally inverted U-shape supported by the plates will turn about said upper plate end surface to bring a limb thereof into abutment with said stop, the said upper member carrying a spring-loaded pusher member for engaging a winding coil to press said coil against said upper end surfaces of the plates, and winding coil locking and guiding means for engaging and holding the opposed limbs of the winding coil.
The working end of the spring-loaded pusher is preferably bifurcated.
The present invention permits higher efficiency of assembly equipment and better utilization factor due to a more reliable process of installation ofwinding coils into an assembly barrel by way of more accurate forced guiding of winding coils into the assembly barrel.
The invention will now be explained in greater detail with reference to an embodiment thereof which is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 shows a general view of the device embodying the invention, and
Figure 2 shows a view taken along line ll-ll of
Figure 1.
A device for installation of winding coils into an assembly barrel comprises a frame 1 (Figure 1), guiding stems 2, a slab 3 carrying a spring-loaded pusher 4 whose working surface is made as a prong and a member for locking and guiding a coil, made as two parallel slideways 5 and 6 arranged on both sides of the spring-loaded pusher 4.
The guiding stems 2 carry a slide bar 7 featuring a lengthwise groove 8 wherein a spring-loaded rod 9 is disposed. The slab 3 also mounted on the guiding stems 2 is arranged above and at a specific distance from the slide bar 7. The device for installation of winding coils into an assembly barrel comprises a mechanism for locking and guiding a winding coil, made as two parallel plates 11 and 12 rigidly secured together and disposed in the groove 8 of the slide bar 7 at different intervals from the slab 3 and mechanically connected to the spring-loaded rod 9.
The lower part of the slide bar 7 is provided with a stop 13 and a clamp 14. The stop 13 is mounted on the working surface of the slide bar 7, bearing against the plate 12 positioned closer to the slab 3.
The plates 11 and 12 have faces 15 and 16 presented to the slab 3, the face 16 being higher than the face 15. The winding coil has an end portion 17 and slot portions 18 and 19. The distance between the external surfaces of the plates 11 and 12 and the distance between the slideways 5 and 6 correspond to the distance between the internal surfaces of the slot portions 18 and 19 of the winding coil.
The stop 13 is mounted on the slide bar 7 on the side of a slot 20 of an assembly barrel 21.
The frame 1 (Figure 2) carries a drive for reciprocal motion of the spring-loaded rod 9 in the direction perpendicularto the motion of the slide bar7 along the guiding stems 2. The frame 1 also carries a drive 23 of the clamp of the slot portion of the coil and a drive (not shown) for the slab 3 and the slide bar 7 to move along the axis of the assembly barrel 21 (Figure 1). The drive 23 of the clamp of the slot portion of the coil interact with a rod 24.
The proposed device operates as follows.
A winding coil is delivered into the device to the mechanism 10 for locking and guiding the coil. The coil is thus suspended by the end 17 thereof on the faces 15 and 16 of the plates 11 and 12. As the face 16 is higher than the face 15, the coil is capable of turning in its own plane in the direction of the stop 13. The slab 3 together with the slideways 5 and 6 is then moved in the direction of the assembly barrel 21, the slideways 5 and 6 force the slot portions 18 and 19 of the coil against the slide bar 7 and the spring-loaded pusher 4 interacts with the end 17 of the coil. As a result of this interaction the coil is forced to turn in its own plane about the face 16 which is set higher than the face 15 and the slot portion 19 of the coil is held up against the stop 13.
Held in this position the coil is fed by means of the slide bar 7 in the direction of the assembly barrel 21.
The clamp 14 (Figure 2) locks the slot portion 19 of the coil with respect to the stop 13 at a certain distance from the butt end of the assembly barrel by means of the drive 23. The slot portion 19 of the coil is thereafter introduced into the slot 20 (Figure 1) of the assembly barrel 21 to a specific initial length and the clamp 14 releases the coil. As the slide bar 7 moves with the coil further on, the spring-loaded rod 9 and the mechanism 10 for coil locking and guiding secured thereto release the coil. The coil is finally fit by the spring-loaded pusher 4 into the slot 20 of the assembly barrel 21. The slab 3 and the slide bar 7 are then brought into the initial position.
The working surface of the spring-loaded pusher 4 is made as a prong, which makes for forced delivery of a coil along the slots 20 of the barrel 21 eliminating skewness of the slot portions 18 and 19 of the coil, as well as deformations of these portions.
In this manner the present invention makes for higher reliability of the process of installation of winding coils into an assembly barrel, which results in higher efficiency of armature assembly, eliminates deformation of coils and their rejection as deficient, economy of conductor copper which is always in short supply, better working conditions for the machine operator, that is does away with a whole lot of socio-economical problems.
