Abstract

A portable toy circular saw comprises a body 1 to which is connected a semi-circular shell 8. A semicircle 11 with a surface 13 resembling a circular saw pivotally mounted and is urged by a spring out of the shell 8. A notch in the semicircle 11 allows the semicircle to retract pivotally into the shell against the spring action when simulating sawing. Retraction of the semicircle causes the end of a strip 7 to be urged against the teeth of a toothed wheel 6 on the output shaft of an inertia mechanism including a flywheel spun by an automatically retracting pull string 4. The strip and toothed wheel thus produce a sound similar to that of using a circular saw. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Toy portable rotary saw The subject matter of the present application, according to what can be deduced from what is stated, relates to a portable toy circular saw. It is devised with the aim of providing the market and the public in general with a portable toy circular saw which is specially adapted to reproduce a simulation of the operating conditions of a tool of this kind thus providing the toys with an educational aspect.
Accordingly the portable toy circular saw which is proposed is characterized in that it is constituted externally by a horizontal body which simulates the motor block, in whose upper part and in an inclined position there is a handle from which projects a cross-head key which is attached to an automatic recovery cable which, when it is pulled, operates an inertia mechanism whose power output is connected to a toothed ring in whose vicinity is an angular strip with its free edge opposite the teeth of the ring.
The motor block comprises a semicircular shell which simulates the protective casing of the saw whose lower face consists of a smooth surface which covers this part of the motor block and casing with a groove from which projects a semicircle driven by a spring which shows a cut circular saw and also resembles the guard of the saw, provided with an indentation or groove where it is joined to the smooth surface. In order to simulate the cutting action the semicircle withdraws into the interior of the casing and by means of a projection which in its internal portion acts upon the strip moving it near to the teeth of the mechanism in order to produce a sound similar to that characteristic of sawing. A manual switch which simulates the connection to set it in motion is optionally provided in the handle.
To help to explain the idea disclosed a set of drawings are provided by way of example to illustrate the present description as one embodiment of the toy portable circular saw which is the subject matter of the present application.
Figure lisa diagrammatic view in lateral elevation of a portable toy circular saw according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a diagrammatic view in longitudinal section of the same toy circular saw.
Figure 3 is another diagrammatic view in cross section of the same saw.
It can be deduced from the drawings mentioned that the portable circular saw in question is constituted externally by a horizontal body 1, which simulates the motor block, in whose upper part and in an inclined position is a handle 2 from which projects a cross-head key 3, which is attached to an automatic recovery cable 4 which, when it is pulled, operates an inertia mechanism 5 whose power output is connected to a toothed ring 6 in whose vicinity is an angular strip 7 with its free edge opposite the teeth of the ring 6.
The motor block 1 comprises a semicircular shell 8 which simulates the protective casing of the saw.
The lower face 9 of the casing 8 has a groove 10 from which projects a semicircle 11 driven by a spring 12.
The semicircle 11 shows a cut circular saw 13 and is provided with an indentation or groove 14 which, in order to simulate the cutting action, causes the semicircle 11 to withdraw into the casing 1. The projection 15 then acts upon the strip 7 moving it near to the teeth of the toothed ring 6 in order to produce a sound similar to that characteristic of sawing. A manual switch 16 which simulates the connection to set it in motion is provided in the handle 2.
It is not considered necessary to extend this description because any person skilled in the art will understand perfectly the idea which it is desired to patent, just as the advantages derived from it for the educational application to childrens' toys, together with the simplicity of the manufacturing process of the toy, make this toy of use and of advantage and provide a new effect with respect to the function for which it is designed.
