Abstract

A chain-saw shaped toy comprises a body 1 having the form of a grotesque animal head and a chain- saw-like part 6. The body contains an inertia mechanism 7 including a fly- wheel which is spun by an automatically retracting pull-string. An output shaft 9 of the mechanism carries a wheel 10 having teeth 11 in the rotary path of which the end of a tongue or strip 12 is located. The movement of the teeth cause the tongue to vibrate so as to produce a sound which is amplified by a sound box 13. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Chain saw shaped toy The subject matter of the present invention relates, as can be deduced from the description, to a toy in the form of a chain saw. This toy was designed in order to provide the market and the general public with a toy chain saw having a structure which is specially adapted to reproduce in a simulated mannew the operating conditions of a tool of this type, thereby providing the toys with an educational aspect.
In this respect, the toy formed as a chain saw which is proposed is essentially characterised in that it is constituted by a hollow moulded body which forms the grotesque head of an animal and has in its upper portion a handle and in its lateral portion an element similar to a chain saw, whilst the body contains an inertia mechanism which is loaded by the extraction of a cable, with automatic recovery, which has an external operating knob, with the particular feature that the inertia mechanism has the end of its shaft provided with a toothed wheel to whose teeth there is connected a vibrating tongue which emits a particular sound during the operation of the mechanism.
In order to enable interpretation of the idea described above, the attached drawings, given purely by way of example, show the present description with respect to an embodiment of the toy in form of a chain saw which is the subject matter of the present application.
Figure 1 is a diagrammatic view in perspective of a toy formed as a chain saw in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a further diagrammatic view in longitudinal section of the same toy formed as a chain saw.
It can be seen from the above Figures that the toy in question is constituted by means of a hollow moulded body 1 which forms the grotesque head of an animal with eyes 2, nose 3 and teeth 4. In its upper portion the body 1 has a handle 5 and in its lateral portion an element 6 similar to a chain saw.
The body 1 contains an inertia mechanism which is loaded by the traction of a cable, with automatic recovery, connected to an external operating knob 8.
The inertia mechanism has the end of its shaft 9 provided with a toothed wheel 10 to whose teeth 11 there is connected a vibrating tongue 12 supported on a sound box 13 which transmits a particular sound during operation of the mechanism.
It is not considered necessary to expand further on the description as any person skilled in the art will completely understand the idea to be patented as well as the advantages deriving from its industrial production for the educational aspects of childrens' toys, which, combined with the simplicity of the manufacturing method for the toy and its operational capacity enable the latter to be provided with a use and advantage and a new effect for the function for which it is designed.
1. Toy formed as a chain saw, essentially characterised in that it is constituted by a hollow moulded body which forms the grotesque head of an animal and has in its upper portion a handle and in its lateral portion a rectangular appendage element which projects forwardly, in whose internal face there is located an element similar to a chain saw, whilst the body contains an inertia mechanism which is loaded by the traction of a cable, with automatic recovery, which has an external operating knob, with the particular feature that the inertia mechanism has the end of its shaft provided with a toothed wheel to whose teeth there is connected a vibrating tongue which emits a particular sound during the operation of the mechanism.
