Abstract

The device, e.g. on wood processing machines, renders possible an acoustic pressure level in accordance with the permissable limit value by counteracting the noise generation directly at the point of action of the cutting edges of tie tool 16 upon the workpiece 12. To this end, a machinable insert 3 is provided with at least one air chamber 5 open in use, towards the workpiece 12 and a recess 17 corresponding to the circular path of the cutting edges of the tool. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Device for noise reduction on machine tools The invention relates to a device for noise reduction on machine tools, especially on format processing machines in the wood industry which are used for the working of edges or marginal zones of flat wood materials in panel form.
It is known that the machining of workpieces of panel form of wooden materials by means of double-end profilers involves a heavy noise encumbrance upon the surroundings of the machine and the operating personnel. In this case the workpiece and the tool appear as noise sources, the workpiece being stimulated by the cutting force, acting in pulse form, of the tool and thus emitting sound. By design measures the object has been achieved that the tool no longer radiates any level-determining sound. However hitherto success has not been achieved in damping the workpiece to such extent that the sound emitted by the workpiece could be repressed below the permissible acoustic pressure level or into the region of the permissible acoustic pressure level.
As a measure to reduce the acoustic pressure level it is proposed to form the working region of the tools in combination with the swarf extractor hoods as a self-contained unit and to make the opening, necessary for the workpiece passage, variable. Furthermore the swarf extractor hoods are lined with sound-absorbent material. For the execution of the swarf removal the extractor hoods are equipped with special air inlet passages.
In this connection reference is made to GDR Patent WP 100,144 and GFR Publ Sp. 2,539,124.
It is further proposed to use an endless circulating element movable in the direction of workpiece feed, which is formed as or provided with a workpiece sound-insulating covering and rests on the workpiece, the circulating element being combined with a lateral workpiece soundinsulating covering. The endless circulating element can be used as pure sound-insulating covering, which is set in circulation by the workpiece, and as transport element for the workpiece (GFR Pub. Sp. 2,715,377).
With the measures as stated it is possible to reduce the noise. However the degree of noise reduction is too low in relation to the requisite technical expense. As before, the permissible acoustic pressure level is still exceeded. It is also disadvantageous that the said sound-insulation elements can be pressed against the workpiece only with a slight pressure, since otherwise damage occurs to the lamination materials.
It is the aim of the invention to make available a device for noise reduction on machine tools which, with low technical expense and while retaining the quality of the workpieces, renders possible an acoustic pressure level in conformity with the permissible limit value of Lpäq = 90 dB (Al).
The invention is based upon the problem of proposing such a device for noise reduction on machine tools which counteracts the generation of sound directly at the point where the cutting edges of the tools act upon the workpiece.
In accordance with the invention the device consists of a damping element on the basic body of which a machinable insert is arranged. The machinable insert is equipped according to the invention with an air chamber, or several air chambers arranged side by side, and has a recess which corresponds to the circular path of the cutting edges of the tool.
The air chamber, or the plurality of air chambers, is open in the direction of the lower part of the machinable insert and in communication through bores with an air feed passage. The bores, which lie in the same plane and direction, are of different diametrical dimensions.
For easier and damage-free reception of the workpiece the machinable insert is provided with a chamfer. A limit switch is provided on the damping element for the control of the air current.
During operation of the device the workpiece is guided to. the tool by means of transport elements.
A control pulse is triggered through the limit switch, whereby compressed air passes by way of the air feed passage and the bores into the air chamber or chambers. Due to transporting, the workpiece comes into contact with the chamfer on the machinable insert and closes the air chamber or plurality of air chambers open in the direction of the lower part, whereby an excess pressure builds up in the chambers. This excess pressure is dimensioned so that the damping element lifts itself slightly away from the workpiece. The machinable insert is milled by the tool and the recess is produced corresponding to the circular path of the cutting edges of the tool.
Thus the machinable insert directly covers off the position where the cutting edges of the tool engage with the workpiece, whereby a substantial reduction of the noise is achieved.
In the accompanying drawing: FIGURE 1 shows a view of two preferably diametrically arranged devices, seen in the direction of the passage of the workpiece, FIGURE 2 shows the section along A-A in Figure 1.
The damping element 1 of the device is formed by the basic body 2 and the machinable insert 3.
The basic body 2 and the machinable insert 3 are firmly connected by the screws 4. For the horizontal displacement of the machinable insert 3 in the direction of the tool axis 9, the bores for the screws 4 in the basic body 2 are formed as slots. The air chambers 5 and the recess 17 are machined in the machinable insert 3. The air chambers 5 are in communication through the bores 6 and 7 with the air feed passage 8. The bore 6 has a larger diameter than the bore 7, so that on horizontal displacement of the machinable insert 3 in the direction of the tool axis 9, the throughflow of the air is guaranteed from the air feed passage 8 to the air chambers 5.
For easier and damage-free reception of the workpiece 12 a chamfer 13 is formed on the machinable insert 3. The damping element 1 is supported against the machine body through the compression springs 10. Parallel rocker arms 1 1 supported against the machine body are arranged for the vertical guidance of the damping element 1. The limit switch 14 is secured to the damping element 1 for the control of the air current.
