Abstract

A screenwiper blade with incorporated sprinkler system comprises a wiper blade rubber 5 carried by a sheath 4 enclosing a head 6 of the blade rubber which is mounted for limited pivoting in the sheath, and means for supplying washing liquid to channels 7, 8 for spraying through grooves 14 in front of wiping lip 9. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Screenwiper blade with incorporated sprinkler system The present invention relates to a screenwiper blade with incorporated sprinkler system.
Automobile designers are more and more studying screenwiper systems in which a system is provided for sprinkling the surface by directing the jet on the wiper blade rubber, with a nozzle and a washing liquid supply circuit which are carried on the wiper arm.
The solutions proposed hitherto are complicated, irksome and inelegant.
The invention aims at obtaining a screenwiper blade with incorporated sprinkler system which does not present the drawbacks of the known screenwiper blades.
This object is achieved, according to the invention, by means of a screenwiper blade with incorporated sprinkler system comprising a wiper blade rubber carried by a sheath enclosing a head of the blade rubber opposite to the wiper blade lip, characterised in that the said blade rubber head is mounted for limited pivoting in the sheath, forming longitudinal lateral channels in the said sheath, the means for arrival of washing liquid in the said channels being formed in the said sheath.
In the course of the oscillation of the screenwiper blade the blade rubber pivots alternately in the sheath and the washing liquid supplied into the sheath escapes to the front of the blade rubber between the blade rubber head and the sheath.
Such a screenwiper blade is represented in the accompanying drawings, by way of non-limitative example. In the drawings: FIGURE 1 represents a diagrammatic lateral elevational view of a screenwiper according to one example of embodiment of the invention; FIGURE 2 represents a view in section along the line A-A in Figure 1 , for one direction of movement of the arm; FIGURE 3 is identical with Figure 2, for the opposite direction of movement of the arm; FIGURE 4 represents a lateral elevational view of the blade rubber.
The screenwiper is constituted by an arm 1 oscillating about an axis X and upon which a blade 2 is mounted. The blade 2 comprises a deformable harness 3 carrying a sheath 4 which in turn carries a wiper blade rubber 5.
The sheath 4, which is of elastically deformable plastic material, has the form of an inverted U, the head 6 of the blade rubber 5 being lodged within the U, forming two lateral longitudinal conduits 7 and 8. The wiping lip 9 of the blade rubber 5, which is external to the sheath 4, is connected to the head 6 by a web 10 passing through the passage 11 formed between the legs of the U.
Inside the sheath 4 and at the upper part of the cavity which receives the head 6 of the blade rubber 5 there is formed a longitudinal groove 12 into which there opens a tube 13 carried by the arm 1 and connected to a washing liquid supply.
The tube 13 can be connected to the extremity of the blade 2 adjacent to the arm 1 (in solid lines in Figure 1) or can open into a hole formed in the upper part of the sheath 4, substantially in the middle thereof (in dotted lines in Figure 1).
Moreover transverse grooves 14 are formed in the web 10 of the blade rubber 5.
The washing liquid fed into the groove 12 flows by way of the grooves 14 to the front of the wiping lip, because the blade rubber 5 pivots in the direction opposite to the direction F of advance (in Figure 2) or F' (in Figure 3).
1. Screenwiper blade with incorporated sprinkler system, comprising a wiper blade rubber carried by a sheath enclosing a head of the blade rubber opposite to the wiping lip, characterised in that the said head (6) of the blade rubber (5) is mounted for limited pivoting in the sheath (4), forming lateral longitudinal channels (7, 8) in said sheath (4), means for supply of washing liquid (12, 13) into the said channels (7, 8) being formed in the said sheath (4).
2. Screenwiper blade according to Claim 1, characterised in that the said washing liquid supply means comprise a longitudinal groove (12) formed at the upper part of the cavity of the sheath (4) containing the head (6) of the blade rubber (5), while a liquid supply tube (13) opens into the said groove (12).
3. Screenwiper blade according to Claim 2, characterised in that the said tube (13) is fitted on one extremity of the sheath (4).
4. Screenwiper blade according to Claim 2, characterised in that the said tube (1 3) opens into a hole formed in the upper part of the sheath (4).
5. Screenwiper blade according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterised in that transverse grooves (14) are formed in the web (10) of the blade rubber (5) which connects the head (6) to the wiping lip (9).
6. Screenwiper blade with incorporated sprinkler system substantially as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawings.
