208,934. Jordan, R. E. Jan. 19, 1923. Fenders. - Pressed sheet-metal fenders are strengthened by short blocks of wood B, C disposed in the hollow of the metal frame a, b. In the construction shown, two blocks close the open rearward ends of the fender, and a third is placed in the centre of the front portion. The blocks may be secured to bridge-pieces d, which may bewelded to the frame or be formed as a tongue on one of the side walls and be welded to the other;. bars may be substituted for the bridge-pieces shown, to which the blocks are attached by staples. The bridge-pieces may be employed without the blocks across the open rearward ends and the bottom edges of sheet-metal fenders, and serve to prevent distortion during the firing of the enamel.
