Battery lamps.-In a miner's lamp, the well glass a is recessed at a<1> to form a weakened part, and the recess receives a spiral spring @e so that upon fracture of the glass the spring causes outward movement of the lamp and so breaks the circuit. The spring may be sweated to the reflector b and the lower end may be connected to a contact-segment f<1>. Specification 145,913 is referred to.
