Abstract

208,175. Soc. des Etablissements Barbet. Dec. 11, 1922, [Convention date]. Film evaporators. - In rectifying hydrocarbon oils, phenols, cresols, chlorobenzols, nitrobenzols, and other liquids containing constituents of high boiling- point, the material, as a whole and mainly or entirely in the state of vapour is passed into the rectifying coloumn, whence the more volatile constituents are withdrawn as a plurality of fractions. The vaporization is effected in a tubular boiler M the tubes D, Fig. 1, of which have slotted extensions C above the upper tube plate B. The hydrocarbon is fed through an inlet A on to the plate B and trickles down the tubes D. Vapours pass away from the outlet F at the lower end to a rectifying column, which is surmounted by a condenser. The residual liquid from the base of the column may be used to preheat the oil. The apparatus may be maintained under reduced pressure. The liquid and vapours from the evaporator M, Fig. 3, may be separated in a vessel O. The vapours are passed into the column P. The liquid passes to a second evaporator M<1> heated by superheated steam circulated by a pump Q through a superheater R. The vapours and residual liquid are passed into the column near its base. Different fractions are withdrawn from the column through cocks P<1> - - P<5>. Specification 27005/11 is referred to.
