Abstract

207,696. Grant, E. D., and Becco Engineering & Chemical Co., Ltd. Nov. 22, 1922. Purifying liquids; hardening water. - Water containing alkaline bicarbonates is treated with calcium sulphate and hydrate of lime. A mixture of pulverized gypsum and hydrate of lime may be used. If a. permanently hard water is desired an excess of the sulphate is used. The addition of the reagents may be made by apparatus as described in Specifications 9705/02 and 8399/08. Specifications 6070/88 and 821/96 also are referred to.
