Abstract

207,474. Holmes, A., and Mearns, G. April 23, 1923. Clothes pegs; clips, spring wire.-A clothes peg is formed from a single piece of wire in such a way that when not in use it can hang freely from the clothes line. The wire is bent to form a crutch 2 at its middle, and arms 3, 3A extending from, and spread apart by, the crutch, are intertwisted at 4 to form the loop 5, from which the wires extend adjacent to the arm 3, 3A and are secured at their ends 8, 8A to the crutch 2. The arms 3, 3A are crimped at 3B to allow for the thickness of the clothes line 6, and the arms 3, 3A and 8, 8A are in the same plane at 3<c>, gripping the article 10. The Figure shows the device in position for pegging an article 10 to the line 6. When not in use, the peg is inverted and hangs suspended on the line from the loop 5.
