Switches, quick-action; bases, boxes, and cases. -Switches for use on motor-cycles &c. comprise upper and lower insulating discs 10, 8, a diametrical groove or recess being formed in the lower disc to accommodate a pair of fixed contacts 14, 15 with rear terminal sockets. The upper disc 10 carries in a diametrical groove 19, Fig. 5, a spring-pressed metal bar 20 of half-round section, the disc and bar rotating on a stud 21 screwed into the lower disc 8, a spring 23 being interposed between the flat upper face of the bar 20 and the head of the stud 21. On rotation of the disc 10 in successive quarter-turns the bar 20 snaps into the groove 17 bridging contacts 14, 15 and into a second groove 24 at right angles corresponding to the " off " position. An annular extension of the upper disc fits over the reduced neck portion 9 of the lever disc 8 which may have a central cup-shaped recess 18 in its upper face. The switch may be clamped to a bar by a clip 11, Fig. 1. In a modified two-way form, Figs. 6 and 7, the switch has three positions indicated by a pointer 26 on the scale 27 corresponding to three recesses 17. 24, 28 in the disc 8, two of such recesses 17, 28 carrying contacts 14, 15 and 29, 30, respectively of which contacts 15, 30 may be interconnected by a lead 31.
