Description
SPECIFICATION
Filling-seed dressing equipment for sowing machine
The invention relates to a filling-seed dressing equipment for sowing machine having a vertically or near-vertically arranged screw conveyor provided with a scroll case and extending over the tank cover, built into a tank, shaped suitably as an inverted truncated cone or pyramid.
Originally mostly bagged sowing seed was used for seed dressing and the seed dresser was manually handled. On the other hand the manual handling reduces the 1 5-20 t/h rated output of the seed dresser to about 6 t/h actual output. In addition to the handling, the transportation, loading of the dressed sowing seed in bags and filling up of the sowing machines require considerable live labour, furthermore as a result of these processes a substantial part, occasionally even 50%, of the dressing agent applied on the sowing seed will be wasted.
These disadvantages may be alleviated by reducing the period between the dressing and sowing and the number of intermediate operations.
This is possible partly by loading the dressed sowing seed from the seed dresser directly onto the vehicle by mechanical power, and transporting immediately to the sowing machines working in the fields. The extremely accurate transportorganization necessary to counterbalance the specific output difference of the dressing and sowing is fundamental condition of the efficient application of this solution. On the other hand, the transportation and repeated transfer result still in significant loss of the dressing agent.
Transportation and one of the transfers of the dressed sowing seed can be eliminated with the aid of the so-called sowing machine filling-seed dressing equipment. These are vehicles the loading area of which is provided with inclined screw elevator, at which the dressing agent is fed either into the screw elevator, or filled into the hopper of the equipment together with the sowing seed to be dressed.
A drawback of these types of equipment is found in the inadequate quality of the dressing.
With the first type the feeding of the dressing agent and flow of the sowing seed cannot be synchronized; on the other hand, with the second type the dressing agent unevenly admitted at the filling cannot be uniformly distributed with the screw elevator.
Complete elimination of the transfer can be solved with sowing machines provided with a mixing device, in which the dressing agent and sowing seed are filled together into the sowing machine. A drawback of this machine type is that the mixing process begins simultaneously with the sowing and thus sowing seed temporarily covered with superfluous quantity of dressing agent, or completely uncovered sowing seed, may get into the soil after each filling-up process.
The invention is aimed at the realization of a solution of simple construction, easily adaptable into the given sowing technology, and suitable for attaining coverage of specified quality.
According to the invention this problem is solved by forming gaps on the scroll case in the vicinity of the bottom and cover of the tank, and an axially displaceable sleeve is embedded on the scroll case along the gap at the cover, and in given cases at the bottom of the tank.
In the following the invention is described in detail by way of example with reference to the enclosed drawing showing a suitable embodiment. The drawing illustrates the sectional view of the equipment.
The tank 1 of the equipment provided with an inlet opening is mounted in the present case on a stand set on the ground. It is to be noted that within the scope of the invention, the equipment can also be realized with a tank 1 mounted directly on the sowing machine, or tractor, or with a stand ensuring mobile and stable operation. The tank 1 is formed suitably as a reversed truncated cone or truncated pyramid.
A vertically or near-vertically arranged screw conveyor 2 is built into the tank 1, the structural length of which is in excess of the height of the tank 1. A drive 4 assembled from a power source and power transmission device is connected to the neck journal of the shaft 3 of the screw conveyor 2 extending over the bottom of the tank 1. It is to be noted that the power source may be an electric motor, internal-combustion or hydraulic motor; moreover the power transmission device is connectible directly to the driving shaft of the tractor.
The screw conveyor 2 is arranged in a scroll case 5, on which gaps 6 and 7 are formed in the vicinity of the bottom and cover of the tank 1. A sleeve 8 provided with a handle is embedded along the gap 7 on the scroll case 5, axially displaceable between the two extreme positions.
The gap 7 is completely closed or open in the lower or upper extreme positions of the sleeve 8.
A discharge pipe 9 is formed on the end of the scroll case arranged above the cover of the tank 1, to which a guiding element linked with the seed tank of the sowing machine or with the bagging stand, e.g. corrugated metal tube or feed chute, is connected.
A liquid distributing element formed suitably as a lining 10 is concentrically arranged above the gap 7 in tank 1. Perforations consisting of a set of holes is formed along the lower generatrices of the lining 10. The lining 10 is connected to a liquid tank 13 through a pipe provided with control valves 12.
A sleeve 1 4 linked with an adjusting lever at the gap 6 of the present embodiment is arranged on the scroll case 5 identically with the sleeve 8.
Operation of the equipment as described is as follows:
The sowing seed to be dressed poured into the tank 1 is lifted with the aid of the screw conveyor 2 from the gap 6 to the open gap 7 in the scroll case 5, then it is poured back into the tank 1 , thus essentially a torus-like flow pattern is formed.
Meanwhile the powdery dressing agent poured in with the sowing seed is uniformly mixed and distributed on the seed surface. In order to improve the quality of the coating, the grains can be wetted with the liquid admitted from the liquid tank 13. When liquid dressing agent is used, then the flowing sowing seed is sprayed with the aid of the lining 10.
On completion of the dressing, the sleeve 8 is brought into its lower extreme position, i.e. the dressed sowing seed is removed from the tank 1 through the discharge pipe 9. Towards the end of the discharge the sleeve 14 is gradually lowered in order to drain the tank 1 completely.
Advantage of the equipment according to the invention -- besides its simple, sturdy construction and favourable dressing characteristic -- is found in its easy adaptability into the sowing technology, because its construction may be extremely versatile. Thus it is equally usable when mounted on sowing machine, or tractor and servicing several sowing machines in mobile operation, or arranged on the plot to be sown and servicing several sowing machines in stable operation, but it is just as useful in the granary and mainly in small farms.
