Abstract

The invention relates to single- track vehicles, in particular motorcycles and motor bicycles, in which the frame 12 is formed to receive wheel guiding elements, for instance fork and rear wheel balancer, spring means, motor block and seat, and in which in order to simplify the construction of the vehicle, the frame is provided with a receiving means 6 (e.g. in the form of sleeves 16) for exchangeable seats 5 which have a supporting structure attachable to the receiving means. No frame elements for supporting the seat protrude from the frame and the seat is directly mounted on to the main part of the frame. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Frame for one-track (single-track) vehicles The invention relates to a frame for single-track vehicles, in particular motorcycles and motor bicycles, said frame being formed to receive wheel guiding elements, for instance fork and rear wheel balancer, spring means, motor block and seats.
Object of the invention is to simplify the construction of such a frame which can have the form of a tubular or box frame, and of the entire vehicle.
This object is achieved according to the invention by providing the frame with a receiving means for exchangeable seats which have a supporting structure attachable to the receiving means.
The invention is explained in detail under reference to a diagrammatic drawing.
The drawing shows a frame 12 with a steering head 1 for receiving a fork. Two rear wheel balancers 2 are articulated to the frame 12 in a bearing 13. A spring or damping means for the rear wheel balancer 2 is provided between the receiving means 1 7 for a rear wheel and the frame 12. This means can have the form of a U-shaped yoke 11 whose free ends are attached to the rear wheel balancers 2 and whose U-shaped portion is connected to a spring damping means or a shock absorber 14 which in turn is fixed on the frame 12 in a bearing 7. In the same manner, each one of the rear wheel balancers 2 could be connected to the frame 12 in the bearing 7 by means of a separate spring damping means. The bearing 7 is arranged in front of a receiving means 6 for a supporting structure 1 5 for seats 5.The bearing 7 is thus positioned on the frame 12 between the receiving means 6 and the steering head 1.
Depending upon the shape of the frame 12, the motor block, the fuel tank or the like can be fixed within the frame 1 2 on receiving means 4 such as threads, sleeves, bolts or the like.
It is essential, however, that no separate supporting structures or frame elements for the seat 5 be provided on the frame either protruding from it or fixed to it. The frame 1 2 is merely provided with receiving or fastening means 6 for a supporting structure bracing the seat. The frame 1 2 thus extends continuously without protruding structural members between the steering head 1 to the bearing 13 of the rear wheel balancer 2. If a seat 5 is inserted into the receiving means 6 formed by sleeves 1 6 provided in the frame 12, by means of pins 1 5 protruding from its supporting structure, no frame element carrying the seat or other frame elements are positioned below the seat or over its major range. The seat 5 is merely braced by its own supporting structure which is fastened in a suitable manner in the receiving means 6 of the frame 12.
The receiving means 6 can have the form of a recess for engagement with an appropriate part such as a hook for the seat 5. The receiving means 6 can also have the form of a tap hole, a slot, a sleeve, a pin, a claw or a bolt, fastened or fixed to the frame. By means of these receiving means, the seat 5 is fastened by means of appropriate structure elements arranged on or fixed to the seat or its supporting structure. It is of advantage to make the seat lockably adjustable in height by providing a plurality of receiving means arranged one below the other. The adjustability in height can be effected, for instance, by the multiple provision of appropriate receiving means on the frame 12, by fastening means on the supporting structure of the seat adjustable, for instance, by means of screws or by mechanical hydraulic or electrical height adjusting means.
The supporting structure of a seat 5 is provided with fastening means 10 or 10' for fastening a further seat 5', a luggage rack 9', blinkers and rear light 9" or a hand hold. These further structural elements can be fixed to the first seat 5 by means of suitable tube receiving means 10 of the seat 5 and corresponding extensions 10' on the structural elements 5', 9', 9". Due to the provision of a receiving means of any given form on the seat 5 or the frame 12 and appropriately adapted holding elements on the supporting structure of the seat and the supplementary parts, it is simple to exchange the seat, to select a seat with back rest, to attach a pillion and further supplementary elements.
The securing, i.e. the traffic-safe fastening of the seats and corresponding supplementary parts can be effected by means of screws, splints or the like.
It is essential to keep the frame 12 free of protruding structural elements such as they have been conventional for carrying a seat 5, as this assures a simplified frame construction and facilitates the provision of necessary structural elements such as seat, spring means and motor block. The frame shows only a slight bend between steering head 1 and bearing 13. The upper frame part starting at the steering head 1 bends downwards to the bearing in front of the seat 5 and this part of the frame is so inclined that it extends only slightly below the seat. The receiving means are preferably arranged on this inclined part.
