206,926. Otterson, G. W. Aug. 17, 1922. Heels. - A detachable and resilient heel 1 is formed with an air space 2 and shoulders 8, 9 adapted to be sprung over lips 6, 7 on a plate 3 secured to the heel end of the sole 4. In a modification, Fig. 5, the plate is formed as a frame 10, approximately of the contour of the heel, outwardly-bevelled at its curved end 14 and having projections 16 at the breast end. The walls of the air space 2 in the heel are correspondingly shaped to spring over the bevel 14 and projections 16. In each construction the air-space extends over the whole under-surface of the plate.
