Abstract

A clamp comprising a hollow rectangular steel section having an internal size larger than the external size of a rectangular supporting post, and having one clearance hole drilled in one side in line with a captive nut welded to the outside of the section, and a set-pin screwed through both items. The clamp can be slid over the supporting post and held in position by tightening the set-pin. With a hinge welded to the outside and used in pairs, two clamps can be used to regulate the height of a cattle feed barrier. One clamp with provision for a latch welded on the outside can be used to secure the feed barrier in the closed position against the other post. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Agricultural box clamp The invention relates to the method of varying the position of a structure supported between two parallel rectangular posts.
A method in common use is to drill a series of equi-spaced holes in the supporting posts and matching holes in the supported structure and secure them with screwed fasteners passing through both items. Such a system however usually requires more than one person to alter the position of the structure being supported.
This method takes a considerable time to manufacture due to the number of holes that need to be drilled in the supporting posts and the supported structure.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a device which is easier to manufacture and provides an easier method to vary the position of a structure supported between two posts.
According to the present invention hereinafter called an agricultural box clamp and comprising of a hollow rectangular steel section having an internal size larger than the external size of the rectangular supporting posts, and having one clearance hole drilled in one side in line with a captive nut welded to the outside of the section, and a set-pin screwed through both items. The agricultural box clamp can be slid over the supporting post and locked in position by tightening the set-pin. With a hinge welded to the outside, and used in pairs, two agricultural box clamps can be used to regulate the height of a cattle feed barrier. One agricultural box clamp with provision for a latch welded on the outside can be used to secure the feed barrier in the closed position against the other supporting post.

An agricultural box clamp as hereinbefore referred to comprising a hollow rectangular steel section, having an internal size larger than the external size of the rectangular supporting post, and having one clearance hole drilled through one side in line with a captive nut welded to the outside of the section, and a set-pin screwed through both items, also having a striker plate welded on the uutside can be used on a supporting post to secure a structure in the closed position when the structure is in the manner described in claim 1.

An agricultural box clamp as hereinbefore referred to comprising a hollow rectangular steel section, having an internal size larger than the external size of the rectangular supporting post, and having one clearance hole drilled through one side in line with a captive nut welded to the outside of the section, and a set-pin screwed through both items, also having a hinge lug welded on the outside, can be used with a similar agricultural box clamp to support a structure between two parallel rectangular posts. The agricultural box clamps can be slid over the supporting post and locked in position by tightening the set-pins.
