Abstract
206,426. Bull, H. A. Feb. 6, 1923. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Renewable calks and treads; slotted to facilitate bending.-A tread 5 of rubber or other shockabsorbing material is secured to a shoe member 1 by means of hook tongues 4 on the shoe member which engage correspondingly shaped parts 5<a> on the inner periphery of the tread 5 and by screws or studs 11 passed through the tread into threaded holes 7 in the shoe member 1. For a portion of its width the shoe tapers towards the inner periphery. Fig. 5 shows the tread secured by screws 11 the heads of which are formed with calks 12 on one side of a diameter Fig. 10 shows a toe piece 14 with a flange 15 to protect the tread. Slots 16 facilitate bending to shape and the toe piece is secured by the screws 11 passing through holes 15<a>. To enable the shoe to be bent to shape a semi-circular cut 2 is made in the inner periphery of the shoe. The tread may be reinforced with metal plates 9 which act as bearing surfaces for the fixing screws and by other means such as cording &c.
