Inking-apparatus.-A duct roller 4 is journaled in a bracket 1 of, or secured to the frame of, a platen machine, a trough or duct 5a is pivotally mounted on the shaft of the duct roller, a distributor roller 9 is journaled in the side cheeks of the trough, and the duct roller is operated by the rocking movements of the trough. One of the side cheeks of the trough is extended to form an arm 10 which is engaged by the runner of the inking-rollers 11 at the top of their stroke to rock the trough. The trough returns by gravity to a position determined by an adjustable stop 6. A duct blade 7 of sheet spring steel is adjusted by a screw 8 and forms the bottom of the trough. The roller 4 is provided with a ratchet wheel co-operating with pawls on the bracket and trough respectively.
