Printing-surfaces.-A printing-plate clamp is provided with two of its faces differently formed so that the clamp can be used either to clamp two adjacent plates with a margin space between or permit a double wide plate to lie over the clamp, or a single clamp can be used to provide margin spaces of different widths between two adjacent plates, the clamp being mounted in a recess in the printing-plate support and being movable to bring the different surfaces to the top of the recess without removal of the clamp from the recess. In one form, Fig. 1, the clamp 8 is provided on one side with a margin face 9 and on the opposite side with a plain face 11, :adapted, when turned toward the periphery of the cylinder 6, to allow a double wide plate to lie over it. The clamp 8 is pivoted on a spindle 23 carried by a block 19 secured in a recess 31 in the cylinder, and is fixed in its operative position by a screw 24. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the clamp is provided on opposite sides with margin faces 13, 15 of different widths and the carrying block 19 is slidable in a recess 17 in the cylinder, guide ribs on the sides of the block engaging grooves 18 in the walls of the recess.
