Abstract

Partially wet organic fibrous material (23) is centrifugally impacted in a hot exhaust gas atmosphere (29) such as flue gas to defiberize and dry the material. Then the material is separated from the hot exhaust gas by fluid energy (28, 30). In one form of the invention, the separated material is burned in a prime combustion zone (18, 20) thereby producing hot flue gas which is fed back (24) to the centrifugal impacting zone.
