Abstract

A constructional arrangement for erecting a structure such as a wall of a building, cast from concrete. The arrangement comprises a skeletal construction frame made up of at least two horizontal sectional steel girders 1 and 3 or 4 with vertical steel supports 2 arranged therebetween as reinforcement for the structure. The frame is provided with shutterboard retainers to allow the structure to be cast in concrete subsequent to erection. The arrangement is particularly suitable for erecting a squash court. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A constructional arrangement for erecting a structure, such as a wall of a building, cast from concrete Field of the invention The present invention relates to a constructional arrangement for erecting a structure such as a wall of a building, cast from concrete.
Background of the invention In the construction of prefabricated houses it is known to erect dividing walls using prefabricated wall panels mounted on vertical sectional steel supports. In this connection, the supports are arranged spaced apart between two horizontal sectional steel girders corresponding to a frame or grid predetermined by the wall panels, and are for example designed in such a way as box-shaped profiles with an essentially H-shaped cross-section that they form in the gap between the flanges and the web mating slots for two interengaging inner wall panels, on both sides of which outer wall panel serving as cladding for this support construction are secured to the flanges of the vertical supports. In addition, the gaps between the inner and outer wall panels are filled with insulating or other filler materials.
By way of modification, it has also been proposed in prefabricated house construction to employ assembly frames, likewise prefabricated and also consisting of horizontal sectional steel girders and vertical sectional steel supports arranged therebetween, for securing the prefabricated wall panels so as to be able to speed up erection of the walls on site. Such assembly frames for wall panels are also provided for outer walls and are designed so that they can also be used for roof construction and installation using roof trusses.
Construction of squash courts, whose playing walls have to satisfy certain conditions governed by the nature of the game, can also be included within the scope of prefabricated house construction. The playing walls have up to now been designed and constructed either as masonry or in concrete using the standard technology of precast concrete construction, though the latter technique is often out of the question on account of the very high transportation weight of panels having the very large dimensions of the playing walls of a squash court. Thus, since the cost advantage of precast concrete construction compared with masonry cannot in general be utilised in the construction of a squash complex consisting of at least several squash courts, there is the problem of erecting the playing walls of a squash court at less cost compared with a masonry-type structure.
Summary of the invention In order to solve this problem, a constructional arrangement is provided for erecting a structure cast from concrete, such as hereinafter in particular a playing wall of a squash court, which comprises according to the invention a skeletal construction frame consisting of at least two horizontal sectional steel girders and vertical sectional steel supports arranged therebetween as reinforcement for the wall of the building, and shutterboard retaining means arranged the construction frame.
Insofar as it is possible having regard to the constructional aspect, according to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, such an arrangement may also comprise a threedimensional construction frame having four base girders, four roof girders reinforced by transverse and diagonal bars, and vertical supports as well as appropriate retaining means for shutterboards, such a three-dimensional construction frame enabling the four playing walls of a squash court to be erected directly.
Brief description of the drawings An embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of an example with reference to the sole accompanying drawings which shows diagrammatically and in perspective such a threedimensional construction frame.
Best mode of carrying out the invention The construction frame shown in the drawing comprises four base girders 1 assembled to form a base frame which consequently defines a rectangle of the size prescribed for a squash court.
The base girders 1 are joined via four vertical supports 2 to upper roof girders 3 and 4, wherein the vertical supports arranged in the corners may be designed as restrained or fixed supports in addition to being frame supports. All horizontal girders and vertical supports of this threedimensional construction frame, which can also be reinforced by means of diagonally arranged bars on the roof, consist of sectional steel of conventional cross-section.
For the vertical sectional steel supports 2, which may for example have an I or H-shape, the drawing also shows the attachment of a surrounding profiled strip 6 at the height of the upper touchline of a squash court.
The profiled strip 6 is formed as an essentially rectangular, solid or hollow profile, with a curvature that is concave towards the interior of the court, the boundary edges of the strip 6 being arranged flush with the upper side of the relevant associated wall surface. This flush arrangement is achieved in conjunction with shutterboard retaining means, not illustrated in detail, which are arranged on both sides of the vertical supports at least up to the height of the surrounding profiled strip 6 and are anchored by means of the retaining means to the vertical supports 2 for the subsequent casting of concrete in the gap between the shutterboards.
The subsequent concreting of the walls 7 may alternatively also be carried out over the full height of the skeletal construction frame, which as a result, and in conjunction with the possibility of direct anchorage of shutterboards on both sides of the vertical supports that is hereby provided, offers the optimum conditions for satisfactory concrete casting. The surface quality of this concrete casting is so good that a special plaster or stucco need not be subsequently applied, and it directly meets the requirements of the playing wall of a squash court.
As regards structural details, the construction frame may also be designed so that it permits the direct connection and joining of further similar construction frames for the corresponding erection of adjacent squash courts of a squash complex. The construction frame may also be designed so that a concreted rear wall of a squash court can be replaced by a glass wall, i.e. the kit provided within the scope of the invention, is primarily directed to the erection of an individual wall of a building, possible modifications and developments of which may be accommodated by suitably enlarging or extending the kit. Depending on the particular enlargement or extension in question, the kit may also include building mats for reinforcing the concrete in an even more favourable manner as regards the playability of the wall.
