Abstract

205,170. Gaunt, C. F. July 10, 1922. Buttons.-A button, badge, or the like, having a covering of flexible material, is formed from a base-member 1 of thin sheet metal &c. having a number of peripheral projections 3. The covering material 9 is laid over the base member and the extremities of the projections 3, which may be barbed as at 8 and forked, are bent inwards as shown in Fig. 4, to grip the material at the edges. The projections 3 are then bent backwards out of sight, either on to the back of the base member or around a stiffening ring 4 shaped to fit into a raised portion 2 in the base member 1. In the former case, the shank of an eye 7, or other means for attaching the button or badge, is secured to the back of the base member, and in the latter case it is attached to a metal disc 6 fitting into a recess on the upper side of the base member. Specification 3509/87 is referred to.
