Abstract
. The invention relates to a loading clip (1) for loading rifle magazines (2), particularly rod magazines on military weapons, of the kind having a hopper- shaped seat (6 to 10) for setting the loading clip on the magazine, and a guideway for the cartridges (5), adjoining the seat and open on the seat side, in which the cartridges are held, the cartridges being provided so that they may be introduced into the magazine by pressure on the cartridge lying further from the seat and/or on the loading clip. An object of the invention is to provide such a loading clip which can be stacked without difficulty. The invention is characterised in that the seat is constructed asymmetrically relative to the centre plane of the loading clip, with recesses corresponding to the hopper sections formed on one side lying opposite them on the other side. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Loading clip for rifle magazines The invention relates to a loading clip for loading rifle magazines, particularly rod magazines on military weapons, of the kind which has a substantially hopper-shaped seat for setting the loading clip on the magazine, and with a guideway for the cartridges, adjoining the seat and open on the seat side, in which the cartridges are held, the cartridges being provided so that they may be introduced into the magazine by pressure on the cartridge lying further from the seat and/or on the loading clip.
Loading clips of this kind have already been proposed, and those with a hopper-shaped seat, e.g. see German Laid-open Patent Specification
No. 21 07 864, have proved in practice to be completely reliable to use, i.e. even under unfavourable conditions such as darkness, mental stress, etc. magazines can be loaded reliably with them.
The seat in this case is constructed in such a way that when the loading clip is set on the magazine the seat engages round the mouth region of the magazine so that the loading clip is reliably prevented from slipping off and the loading clip is held centred relative to the magazine.
However, loading clips of this kind have the disadvantage that they cannot be stacked very well, since they cannot be arranged parallel to each other with side surfaces resting on each other (unless the loading clips are laid alternately in different directions, which is not desirabie, however).
An object of the invention is to produce loading clips of the kind referred to above which can be stacked up without any difficulty, but in which the advantages of a hopper-shaped seat are retained.
According to the invention such a loading clip is characterised in that the seat is constructed asymmetrically to the centre plane of the loading
clip, with recesses corresponding to the hopper sections formed on one side lying opposite them on the other side.
In other words, at the sides of the loading clip
only 50% of the hopper wall which engages round
the magazine in its mouth region is provided, what
is provided on one side is omitted on the other
side.
In this way, the desired possibility of stacking is
achieved by simple means and with a saving of
materials.
In order that the invention may be readily
understood one embodiment example will now be
described in more detail, with reference to the
accompanying Drawing, in which: Figure 1 is a side view of a loading clip
according to the invention, with the weapon
magazine shown underneath, Figure 2 is a front
view of the loading clip shown in Figure 1 after it
has been set on the magazine, and, Figure 3 is a
plan view onto the loading clip sectioned along
the line AB at right-angles to the side walls.
The loading clip 1 to be set on the weapon magazine 2 has a U-shaped or C-shaped frame which is open at the bottom and the shanks 3 and 4 of which form channels in which the individual cartridges 5, which are not shown in Figures 1 and 2, are passed, arranged one above the other. In the embodiment example shown the cartridges are guided laterally in the channels; an actual longitudinal guideway is not provided; the distance between the shanks (3, 4) is adapted to the length of the cartridges so that no very great displacement can occur in the longitudinai direction.
Figure 2 shows the loading clip set on the magazine 2 and it can be seen that on the side nearest the magazine the end of the loading clip is constructed in a hopper shape so that the magazine is surrounded at its upper edge, as may also be seen in Figure 1.
For this purpose the lower ends of the shanks 3 and 4 are connected on one side by a side wall 6 which is drawn first outwards and then downwards (Figure 2). On the other side the two shanks 3 and 4 are not connected to each other but each bear an angled piece 7, 8 which points outwards and downwards. The side wall 6 and the angled pieces 7, 8, together with short offset end wall sections 9, 10 on the shanks 3, 4, form the seat used to set the loading clip 1 on the magazine. It can be seen that this seat is constructed asymmetrically to the central plane of the loading clip as shown in Figures 2 and 3, so that recesses corresponding to the hopper sections formed on one side lie opposite them on the other side. It can be seen clearly in Figure 3 that identical loading clips can be stacked up on each other without leaving any gaps.
The angled pieces 7, 8 can also be constructed in such a way that they do not have an end wall section, since lateral displacement is prevented in any case by the end walls 9, 10 on the shanks 3, 4. In the embodiment example shown the ends walls 9, 10 are set out so that they fit a particular shape of magazine better, but this is not essential.
The loading clip is normally made of plastic and is envisaged as a throw-away pack; however, it may also be dimensioned and constructed for repeated use.
1. A loading clip for loading rifle magazines, of the kind which has a substantially hopper-shaped seat for setting the loading clip on the magazine, and with a guideway for the cartridges, adjoining the seat and open on the seat side, in which the cartridges are held, the cartridges being provided so that they may be introduced into the magazine by pressure on the cartridge lying further from the seat and/or on the loading clip, characterised in that the seat is constructed asymmetrically relative to the centre plane of the loading clip, with recesses corresponding to the hopper sections formed on one side lying opposite them on the
other side.
