Pistons; connecting-rods.-In a piston for an internal-combustion engine, compressor, pump, or the like, of the type having a detachable gudgeon-pin holder D secured against a shoulder in the skirt, the holder is formed as a disc having concave bearings D<3>, against which the gudgeonpin F is clamped by the bolts H, which secure the holder. The bolts are formed with eccentric collars H<2>, which rest on lugs C<2> in the piston skirt, the lugs being recessed for the passage of the bolts. The gudgeon-pin is preferably hollow and the nuts K of the bolts H bear against half-round washers G in the interior of the gudgeon-pin. The holder D may be a solid disc dished to accommodate the connecting-rod end, or it may be hollow, with the lower wall cut away at D<7>, the walls being supported by washers E through which the bolts H pass. A strengthening rib D<4> formed on the upper surface of the disc engages notches in the collars H<2>. Vent holes are formed in the disc D, entry of oil being prevented by short tubes D<9>. If the piston has a detachable head, the bolts Hare formed with eccentric extensions H<4> for securing the head. A centring ring B, inserted between the head and the skirt, is formed with a flange entering the head and a recess for a reduced extension of the skirt. The ring B forms a division between two packing-ring grooves A<2>, C<1>. Eoles L may be formed in the skirt and the disc to permit the passage of oil.
