Abstract
Apparatus for continuously cleaning hard metal drawing dies includes a conveying device (2) which leads from a receptacle to a first clamping device (6). A pusher device (3) pushes the dies into recesses of a catch plate and the clamping device (6) is pressed hydraulically against the drawing die and supplies a cleaning liquid at high pressure and/or compressed air to the drawing die bores. A second clamping device (7) receives compressed air for removing any adhering liquid from the die bores while cleaning liquid followed by compressed air are simultaneously supplied to the first device for cleaning a successive drawing die. From the second device each drawing die is delivered to a collecting vessel. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
An Automatic Machine for Cleaning Hard
Metal Drawing Dies
The present invention relates to an apparatus for continuously cleaning hard metal drawing dies.
When bores have been produced in hard metal drawing dies, the remaining lapping abrasive has to be removed from the drawing channels. Aiso, the used drawing dies which come from the finishing process have to be cleaned before the start of processing. Up till now this cleaning work has been customarily carried out by hand which is associated with a considerable expense.
The invention is therefore based on the problem of providing an apparatus for continuously cleaning hard metal drawing dies, wherein solely the soiled drawing dies have to be introduced into a receptacle and the clean drawing dies removed from a collecting vessel. All the other operational steps should take place automatically.
According to the present invention there is provided an apparatus for continuously cleaning hard metal drawing dies, the apparatus comprising a receptable for the drawing dies to be cleaned; a conveying device which leads from the receptable to a first clamping device which cooperates with a catch plate provided with recesses for receiving the drawing dies, the first clamping device comprising a punch which is hydraulically pressable against the drawing die and which acts against an abutment, which punch comprises a hollow channel for supplying a cleaning liquid under high pressure and/or compressed air; a second clamping device positioned at a distance from the first clamping device which is related to the recesses in the catch plate, the second clamping device being constructed identically to said first clamping device; and a collecting vessel for the drawing dies which have been cleaned.
The conveying device leading from the receptacle to the first clamping device is preferably a vibratory supply device. The catch plate positioned on a supporting plate is advantageously connected to a stepping switch mechanism which is driven pneumatically. The supporting plate preferably comprises bores which are coaxial to both the hydraulically operated punches or to their axial bores, which coaxial bores are connected to supply channels for cleaning liquid or compressed air.
By using the apparatus of the invention, it is possible for example, first to remove clinging remnants from the drawing die bores in the first clamping device by using a cleaning liquid supplied under high pressure and then to blow most of the remaining liquid away. In the second clamping device, in which the drawing dies arrive respectively from the first clamping apparatus with the aid of the catch plate, the remaining adhering liquid is removed using compressed air from the drawing die bores and the bores are dried.
The invention is described in more detail with the aid of the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows a front view of an embodiment of the present invention and
Figure 2 shows a top view of the embodiment shown in Figure 1.
The embodiment of the invention shown in the drawings is mounted in a frame 1. A transport groove 2 leads from a receptacle which is not shown, to a pusher device 3 which pushes the drawing dies repectively coming from the transport groove individually into recesses 5 of a catch plate 4. These recesses 5 are spaced regularly over the circumference of the catch plate. Two clamping devices 6 and 7 are located on the circumference of the catch plate 4 and above said plate in such a manner that their spacing exactly corresponds to a division between the recesses 5 on the circumference of the catch plate 4. The entire arrangement is covered by a protective hood 8. An hydraulic unit 9 and a high pressure pump 10 for the cleaning liquid are positioned beneath the catch plate 4.
When the apparatus starts to operate, the pusher device 3 pushes a drawing die located in its vicinity into the opposite recess 5. Thereupon, the catch plate 4 starts to move and advances a further division so that the drawing die passes into the region of the clamping device 6. As soon as the catch plate has stopped moving, the pusher device 3 pushes another drawing die into the next recess 5 of the catch plate 4. An approach initiator which is not shown, located in the vicinity of the first clamping device, now releases the further cycle step. The drawing die is clamped first of all in the clamping device 6 and thereafter, a high pressure water jet is released which rinses out clinging impurities from the drawing die bores. Compressed air is then blown through the bore in the clamping device 6 which removes most of the washing liquid.Subsequently, the stepping switch again switches the catch plate 4 onto a further division, after the clamping device 6 has released the drawing die. The drawing die then progresses to the clamping device 7, where another approach initiator initiates the clamping action and the further steps for this clamping device. Meanwhile, the next drawing die is inserted into the clamping device 6. The pusher device 3 again introduces a drawing die into the next recess.
The remaining moisture is then removed from the bore in the clamping device 7 by using compressed air and the bore is dried.
Simultaneously, the washing process described above again takes place in the clamping device 6.
After the completion of the washing or drying process, the catch plate again switches onto a further division and the first drawing die progresses into a receptacle (not shown), from which it can be removed in a clean condition.
The catch plate 4 is located on a electropneumatically operable revolving table 11.
An approach initiator is connected respectively to the cleaning apparatus (6) as well as to the drying apparatus (7) - as has been pointed out above which approach initiator causes each clamping process and the release of the high pressure water and compressed air to be effected only after the catch plate has again stopped moving, when the drawing dies have been pivoted into their intended position.
The automatic machine is operated in an electrical-hydraulic manner, whereby switching elements which are known per se, co-operate such that the described individual processes take place successively in synchronism.
In some cases, particularly where there are heavy deposits of grime and/or very narrow drawing die bores, it has proved to be expedients after the respective clamping into the clamping rinse devices 6 and 7, to or blow through the bores first using a low pressure. Thereby, heavy deposits of grime or water still remaining after the cleaning process are first removed or at least greatly reduced which can lead to a considerable curtailment in the cleaning cycles.
