Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements in Games of Chance This invention relates to improvements in games of chance particularly to a board game for teaching driving, the term board including a layout on a cardboard, fabric or plastic base.
According to the invention a game for teaching driving comprising a base board marked out to depict a plurality of main roads converging on a main roundabout a plurality of toy vehicles for movement on the throw of a dice over the board, a two lane track on each main road, mini roundabouts where each main road enters the main roundabout and markings on the roads a plurality of packs of cards for indicating moves by the players as decided by a card and/or dice.
The invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings:- Fig. 1 is a plan of one embodiment showing a board simulating a driving test for motor vehicles.
Fig. 2 is a plan of a further embodiment of the invention.
As shown in Fig. 1 a plurality of differently coloured toy vehicles, one for each player, travel over a board in turn along a road divided transversely into squares according to the throw of a dice and five packs of cards setting out as pass or a fail and other instructions for a driving test for motor vehicles. Bye passes are provided to an area for carrying out a three point turn and an area for reversing and for bye passing for short cuts between the main roads.
Arrows being marked on the lanes to show the direction of travel.
A square 1 is marked for the start of vehicles travelling to the right and a square 2 for those travelling to the left and further squares 3, 4 for the finish. Other squares are marked 5 for hill starts, 6 for emergency stop 7 for three point turn and 8 for reversing five packs depicts a plurality of duel carriageway roads converging on a main roundabout fed through mini roundabouts. The main roads after leaving the main roundabout, four have been found to be most suitable, are connected in pairs and each has two traffic lanes and are divided up transversely into squares. Byepasses are provided leading to an area for carrying out a three point turn and an area for reversing and for short cuts between the main roads.
As shown in Fig. 2 a plurality of differently coloured toy vehicles, one for each player travel over a board as in Fig. 2 in turn along a track, divided transversely into squares, according to the throw of a dice and packs of cards setting out a pass or a fail and other instructions. A player starts from a point selected by the draw of a card from a pack indicating, for example start on green square marked L or R. The board is marked with arrows to indicate the direction the cars must follow, overtaking is only allowed at the large spaces shown at the mini roundabouts at each corner where a car comes up behind another the throw of the dice must be completed if possible by taking an alternative route. Traffic queues may only be formed when no alternative road is open.
A player must land on a red square marked 1 or 2 and then draws a card from a second packdirecting him to proceed by the throw of the dice to a yellow square 1 or 2 where he draws a card from a third pack directing him to proceed to the finish which he can only enter with a correct throw and must continue to travel until a correct throw is obtained.
