Abstract
204,038. Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Allen, R. C.). Sept. 12, 1922, [Convention date]. Blades. - Relates to turbine blades having lateral projections forming elements of shrouds or partitions, and consists in providing wedge means between said elements so as to take up differences due to expansion and contraction. The selfadjusting wedges 15, Figs. 1 and 2, may be kept in place between the partition elements 11 of the blades 10 by means of springs 16. In a modification, Fig. 3, the wedges 17 carry additional outer blades 18, their inward movement being limited by springs 19. These blades 18 may overhang at the root the partition elements 11, Fig. 5, caulking 20 being provided which yields sufficiently to permit the adjustment of the wedge 17. Fig. 7 shows a construction wherein a wedge 28 is inserted between the back of one blade and a partition element 26 of the next blade. The wedges may be placed between shroud elements at the tips of the blades.
