Abstract

A scoreboard for billiards or snooker has a hollow box, preferably of plastics, with numbered discs rotatably mounted on the inner face of the front panel. The discs are mounted on spindles that project through the front panel and have a knob on their free ends so that the discs may be turned. The spindles are mounted on frictionally adjustable bearings. The front panel has a window therein for each disc.

Description

SPECIFICATION Improvements in or relating to score boards and the like This invention relates to means of recording a number of points scored, and is particularly intended for, but by no means restricted to recording the number of points scored during a game of Billiards or Snooker.
The objective of this invention is to provide a score board capable of fingertip manipulation and allowing instant recognition of the scores recorded from a reasonable distance.
To achieve this objective according to this invention numbered discs similar to clock faces will be mounted on and affixed to spindles by means of washers and locking nuts, a cotter pin or the like, inside a box frame having windows in the front panel, each disc to be rotated by means of a knob forming part of or attached to the end of each spindla, all spindles protruding from said front panel, until the desired number becomes visible through its corresponding window, indication being clearly given on the said front panel of the box frame which knobs are for Hundreds Tens and Units respectively, such devices to be known as Rota-count Score Boards.
All spindles, four for a Tens and Units Board, two for the use of each play or team, and six for a Hundreds Tens and Units board, three for the use of each player or team, will pass through both the front and rear panel of the box frame, and to provide additional and more durable spindle bearing than may be obtainable from the material or differing materials of which each of such panels may be made, metal, nylon, or other suitable washers or eyelets, bushes, or the like may be either glued or otherwise affixed by a manufacturer, to both the said front and rear panels of the box frame as and when desired.
The rear panel of the box frame will of course be made removable to allow assembly, and dismantling as and when necessary of the spindles and discs.
1. A Hollow Score Board comprised of a box, preferably but not necessarily made of Plastic, having windows in the lid, here-in referred to as The Front Panel, encasing two rows of horizontally aligned numbered discs similar to clock faces, mounted on and secured to spindles which pass through bearings in the said front panel, the heads of which spindles protrude therefrom for the purpose of turning the said discs until relevant numbers only are brought into view through the said windows to the obscuration of all irrelevant numbers.
2. A Hollow Score Board as in claim one having threaded spindles to which the said discs are secured by locking nuts, which not only provide a positive and silent drive to the said discs, but may be adjusted to have a braking effect on them to facilitate number alignment.
3. A Hollow Score Board as in claims one and two in which all the numbers on the said discs are equidistantly spaced with the exception of the number ten.
4. A Hollow Score Board as in any of the preceding claims having easily fitted and removable bearings as described here-in.
5. A Hollow Score Board as in any of the preceding claims in which the numbered discs are translucent or transparent, and is constructed to be illuminated from within, as described here-in.
6. A Hollow Score Board substantially as described here-in and as shown on the accompanying drawings.
