Abstract

203,460. Cox, H. W. July 6, 1922. Switches, quick-break; actuating; contacts.- Contacts for switches are disposed in recesses in insulating blocks in such a manner as to afford a limited movement therein for self-adjustment purposes. The fixed contacts A ,are formed with sockets A<1>, A<2> for attaching the leads and admitting the movable contacts respectively. They are mounted in recesses Bl in an insulating block B, and a cover C is provided with parts which extend into the recesses B<1> while allowing lateral movement of the contacts. The movable contacts D are preferably laminated, and are mounted in recesses E' in a block E and secured by a cover F. A toggle H, J, operated with lost-motion from a handle, moves the block E rectilinearly to operate the switch and springs L effect a quickbreak. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, each blade D is provided with a screw M and the blades are connected in pairs by means of fuses N.
