Abstract

Tool-arm mountings. - In a soundrecording or reproducing instrument, the diaphragm is curved cylindrically before being fixed in the sound-box, and when in position it is flattened by the clamping action of the sound-box casing assisted by spring pressure applied through the stylusbar. The diaphragm A, which is shown separately in Figs. 3 and 4, is preferably. made of celluloid, and may be reinforced by a metal spring plate G, preferably of thin steel. The preliminary curving of the diaphragm may be effected by securing a curved metal spring to a normally flat non- metallic disc. The stylus-bar D is mounted on a knife-edge D<1> and held in position by two oppositely-disposed flat springs E, F, engaging with adjustable screws J. H.
