Abstract
203,229. Ashworth, S. Nov. 3, 1922. Platform machines, weigh-bridges; bearings.- The levers of platform weighing-machines and weigh-bridges are provided with machined faces carrying detachable and interchangeable beds which are recessed to form true bearings for the knife edges. The platform P of a weigh-bridge is supported on a knife-edge K carried by a lever C. The knife-edge is secured by a shank K<2> passing through a slot A<2> in the lever and bears upon a machined recess B<2> in a bed B. The bed is secured to the lever by a set screw B<5> passing through a slot B' which is elongated to allow of adjustment. Lateral displacement of the bed is prevented by lugs B<6> engaging flanges C' on the lever. The bed is provided with upstanding walls B<3> and end-plates B' to form an oil-bath. A guard G in the shape of an inverted V may be secured to the platform to protect the bearings from dust and water.
