Abstract
202,808. Casey, E. G. July 14, 1922. Illumination, changing advertisements by controlling. - The lantern of a street or other lighting standard has a number of faces hearing advertisements, sets of different coloured electric incandescent lamps being mounted in the interior of the lantern. The sets of lamps are illuminated and extinguished in succession by a motor-driven switch enclosed within the lantern. According to the construction shown in Figs. 3 and 4, two sets c of four lamps are disposed at the corners of a square in a lantern having eight display faces and constructed of sheet and bar iron with copper clips to secure the glass plates bearing the advertisements. The switch comprises contact pins E and a fibre disc B with a metal conducting strip (not shown), rotated by an electric motor driving through a pinion A. A variable resistance is included in the motor circuit.
