Abstract

A perfume applicator comprises a stick of solid fatty material containing perfume, the stick having a removable covering, e.g. of metal foil, or being encased in a wooden or plastics material sleeve.

Description

SPECIFICATION Perfume applicator The invention relates to an applicator for perfumery substances or scent.
Perfume bottles are known in which the perfume is present in liquid form; also small perfume boxes in which the perfume is present in a paste-like consistency. Accordingly, two possible forms of application are known. Either the perfume is applied to the desired place with the aid of a small rod which is dipped into the liquid perfume or has been coated with the perfume paste or the perfume is sprayed on if it is in liquid form.
The small rod for dabbing the liquid on is easily lost or misplaced. In addition, there is the danger that the liquid perfume drips off if too much has been applied to the rod that the perfume paste smudges. Spraying has the disadvantage that the place of application cannot be accurately confined.
In addition, perfume bottles with a spray device are relatively expensive.
Of course it is also possible to apply the perfume by hand but this results in unnecessarily rapid use because a considerable proportion of the perfume adheres to the hands, which might in any case often be undesirable.
There is therefore a need for another method of application and it is the object of the present invention to provide an alternative trouble-free applicator for perfume that is also particularly cheap.
In a perfume applicator, the invention provides a fat pencil containing perfume substances and provided with a removable covering.
Such a perfume stick is an effective alternative for previously known applicators. It does not have the disadvantages of the latter as described above and can be very economically manufactured.
The perfume stick can from time to time be sharpened with the aid of a sharpener which simultaneously removes the covering so that the tip of the fat pencil always projects from the covering. Instead of sharpening the perfume stick it is of course also possible, in cases where the covering is in the nature of a foil, merely to peel the foil off the tip of the fat pencil after is has been worn down, so that the tip will always remain exposed.
In a preferred embodiment, the covering is a metal foil our a metal layer which isvaporised on.
However, to ensure that the fat pencil stick containing the ethereal oil will not break, a development of the invention provides a covering in the form of a sharpenable solid sleeve.
Such a sleeve may be of plastics material or wood.
Since the ethereal oils and/or other oily ingredients could migrate outwardly from the fat pencil stick into a sleeve consisting of wood, whereby they dissolve materials contained in the wood and reverse diffusion could result in discolouring of the fat pencil, it is desirable to provide a sheath between the wooden sleeve and the fat pencil that is impermeable to ethereal oils or oily ingredients in the liquid as well as vapour phase. Since the same problem also arises in the case of a plastics sleeve in relation to the plasticizers, such an intermediate sheath is of course also desirable if there is a plastics sleeve.
The intermediate sheath may consist of a metal layer which is vaporized on or it may be a metal foil.
The invention will now be described in relation to a specific example with reference to the single figure of the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing, a preferred embodiment of the perfume stick according to the invention is diagrammatically illustrated in longitudinal section. A fat pencil 10 containing ethereal oils is embedded in a wooden or plastics sleeve 12. As illustrated, the fat pencil 10 is preferably provided with a metallic intermediate sheath 14 which surrounds the fat pencil 10 and separates it from the sleeve 12.
In the above context "fat pencil" has the meaning of a stick which is basically composed of fatty substances.
