Delivery of articles stored in rotary drums; coin action, weight. - In apparatus of the kind having one or more coin balances 7 each co - operating with and locking by means of a lug 11, one arm 9 of a two-armed lever 9, 10, the other arm 10 of which forms a detent for preventing the opening of a shutter, valve, &c. under the action of a spring or weight, the lever 9, 10 is provided with a counterweight 22 which causes it to swing clear of the lug 11 against a spring stop 23, when the balance is depressed by a coin, so that it cannot be re-locked by the balance unless the shutter, valve &c. has been opened, the stop 23 towards the end of the opening movement re-setting the lever 9, 10. In the application to an apparatus for selling sandwiches stored in compartments 3, Fig. 1, of a turntable 1, the compartments being brought in succession in front of a shutter 5, the shutter 5 is opened by a spring 19 acting on a pivoted arm 16 which has a pawl 18 engaging a notch 20 in the arm 10 of the lever 9, 10. The arm 16 is also pivoted between fixed depending arms 15 of a sector 14 which is pivoted to arms 13 depending from the shutter. The spring stop 23 is carried by the arm 16. The shutter is closed again by rollers 21 on the turntable acting against the sector 14. Delivery of liquids.-In the application to an apparatus for delivering a weighted quantity of liquid, the vessel 24 is supported by the arm 30 of a lever pivoted at 29 and having a counterweight 32. The lever also has a depending arm 33 connected by a link 34 to the pivoted arm 16. When a coin is inserted, the weight 32 raises the vessel 24, closing a valve 36 and opening a valve 35 to allow liquid to enter through a pipe 25. As soon as there is sufficient liquid to counterbalance the weight 32, the vessel descends, closing and opening respectively the valves 35, 36 to discharge the liquid through a spout 28.
