Abstract

In a high temperature hermetic electrical connector having socket contacts (54) which may be hermetically sealed in an insulator (22) of one connector member, a spring sleeve (82) is removably mounted on a semi-cylindrical forward portion of the body (58) of each socket contact for resiliently urging a mating pin contact (56) into engagement with the forward portion. A front insulator (20) may be removably mounted on the front face (36) of the insulator (22), and serves to retain the springs (82) on the socket contact bodies (58). When the front insulator (20) is removed, a damaged spring (82) may be replaced in the field by a new spring without affecting the sealing integrity of the connector. Alternatively, a metal hood mounted on the contact body (58) may removably retain the spring (82) thereon. <IMAGE>
