Abstract

A dot matrix thermal printer with thermal heads 50, 52, 54 is controlled by electronic control circuitry which receives and stores data from a video display 10 and converts it to dot matrix form. A page of data is printed, one page- length dot column after another, each such column being printed in four time phases each of 72 (simultaneous) dot positions belonging to a respective quarter of the characters in a column of characters, using shift registers. <IMAGE>
