Abstract

The focusing system for a multi-pickup tube color television camera includes a main focus coil 20, 21 and 23 and a vernier focus coil 30, 31 and 33 about each pickup tube 10, 11 and 13. The main focus coils are coupled in series to a common source 25 and the vernier focus coils are independently controllable, eg. by a respective digital control signal operative on an independent vernier focus current supply 40, 41 and 43. This avoids having to digitize voltages of the order of 1000 volts or having to use individual current shifts in the focus coil currents, and hence lead to registration errors. <IMAGE>
