Abstract

Singles yarns are false-twisted, brought together and plied and additional torque in the plying direction is applied beyond the normal equilibrium point to adjust the relationship between twist remaining in the singles yarns and the amount of ply twist. A jet device using air or steam can be used to apply the additional torque, steam being used to concurrently heat set the plied yarn.
