Abstract

A washbasin 13 is adjustable for height on fixed guides 20 secured to the wall or floor, the bowl of the washbasin being integral with a splashback 12 and/or the upper section 27 of a telescopic pedestal. The fixed guides 20 and the slides 16 which engage them extend for substantially the full height of the integral bowl unit. Operation is by hydraulic ram or manually with spring or weight counterbalance. Locking is effected either mechanically or by a cut-off valve in the ram circuit. A tongue on a draining board may engage a recess in the inner wall of the bowl. <IMAGE>
