Abstract

A method of knitting fabrics having a Jacquard pattern on a circular knitting machine comprising selecting the needles (3) which knit at one yarn feed (F2) by two separate selecting devices (6, 7). The selection by the two separate selective devices (6, 7) may be carried out either at separate times following each other or simultaneously during a same knitting course, but on different groups of pattern jacks (5). In the first case the pattern height is increased and in the second case a part (19') of a pattern (19) may be inserted into a part of another pattern (18). The circular knitting machine comprises jack controlling cams (4) defining two different paths (C, D) for the jacks (5) selected by the one and the other selecting device (6, 7), but the two paths (C, D) converge to a common path for causing corresponding needles (3) to knit at that feed (F2) to which two selecting devices (6, 7) are associated. <IMAGE>
