Abstract

The knitting machine comprises a plurality of needles extended by two superimposed portions (6.9) of which one, carrying a butt, is flexible and of which the other extends the bearing surface of the needle. The upper portion can be buried by the action of a cam 26 on the heel 25 of a selector 5 acting on a rocker 4 and be held buried by an electromagnetic selection of the selector 32 for the purpose of putting the needle out of action in the row in progress, or be buried temporarily by the bringing into action of one or more pressers on one or more of the tracks formed by the alignment of the heels 25 in the respective preselected positions of the selectors, for the purpose of tucking, on each passage and for each system of a knitting carriage. <IMAGE>
