Abstract
An adsorption apparatus comprises a vessel housing an adsorbent chamber for the adsorbent material (A), the inner wall (19) of the chamber consisting of a synthetic material which is corrosion and diffusion resistant against chlorinated hydrocarbons and chlorine ions, e.g. polyvinylidene fluoride. The outer wall (18) of the vessel may be made of a fibre reinforced plastics material, a separating chamber (21) being defined between the inner wall and the outer wall. The separating chamber (21) may have connections for pressure balance or supply of heat transfer medium. The apparatus is suitable for the removal of solvent vapours from air using activated charcoal followed by desorption of the solvent by steaming. <IMAGE>
