Abstract
The invention relates to a process for the recovery of organic substances from gases by adsorption by binding the organic substances, present therein as contaminant, in one or more adsorber(s) packed with activated charcoal and/or another adsorber having a high specific surface area and desorption thereof after saturation of the [respective] adsorber and, possibly following condensation of the vapour mixture of organic substances and water produced on desorption, and removal or recovery of the organic constituents which can be separated from the condensate, incineration of the organic substances in whole or in part with the aid of auxiliary energy and, as a result, rendering the same harmless, and utilising the quantity of heat obtained, which is characterised in that the desorption is carried out using saturated steam under pressure or superheated steam. <IMAGE>
