Abstract
The invention relates to an echo regulator for regulating echos received by an active sonar, particularly with a view to displaying these echos. The echo signals are amplified by a variable-gain amplifier (2) and applied to a high-pass filter (3) connected to the display unit (1). An attenuator (4) is controlled by a circuit for calculating the attenuation of the sonar signals, taking into account the range of the target and the decentering of the direction of the target in relation to the direction of maximum radiation of the sonar. The gain of the amplifier (2) is regulated in dependence upon the attenuation of the attenuator (4). Application to the detection of mines situated near the seabed. <IMAGE>
