Abstract

A steering column lock of the invention comprises a lock cylinder (62) and in which a two-armed retaining member (12) releasable by a key provides a safeguard against accidental locking by engaging a groove in the bolt 4 with its end 12a. The front end portion 12b of the retaining member is raised by the side of the key through an intermediate member 8 which is pivotably mounted in a trough 62b in the lock cylinder immediately behind the faceplate. <IMAGE>
