Abstract

Keys for a lock cylinder, especially a profile lock cylinder, provided with a cylinder plug closed all-round and containing a correspondingly profiled keyway and with radially adjustable pin tumblers are provided with a key shank (1) which consists of solid material and which has an essentially circularly profiled solid indented region (2), provided with notches (3) worked in on its circumference and intended for the pin tumblers (10), and a longitudinal web (4), projecting radially from the indented region (2), for guidance and for rotational take-up. In order to improve such a key and a lock cylinder to be locked thereby in such a way that, by means of them, whilst the essentially circular-cylindrical cross-section of the key shank (1) and keyway is preserved and it thereby becomes possible to accommodate numerous pin tumblers (10), their improper use by corresponding pseudo blank keys becomes substantially more difficult and, at the same time, the stability of the keys is also increased considerably in the region of their longitudinal web, the longitudinal web (4) of the key shank (1) has a fork-shaped profile, the fork legs (5, 5') of which are connected via a common narrow fork neck (5'') to the round indented region (2) of the key shank and possess between their free ends a fork groove (5'''), through which is to pass a corresponding keyway profile projection (12''') of the cylinder plug (9). The associated lock cylinder possesses, in its plug (9), a correspondingly profiled keyway and at least one tumbler plate (14) which crosses the keyway in the region of its two keyway-slot legs and the keyway profile projection (12''') located between them and which is supported at the rear on a blocking pin (15) mounted resiliently in the lock-cylinder housing web (8''). <IMAGE>
