Abstract

Centre-filled bars of confectionery are made by making successive deposits of shell 31 and filling materials 32 into adjoining cavities 18 of moulds 17 moved in succession beneath coaxial depositing nozzles 28. The cavities in each mould are separated by webs 19 over which shell material overflows 49 so that successive deposits join together to form in each mould a bar having a flat base. The process enables the shell material to be toffee or other sugar-based materials which do not fuse together in the prior art process used for making chocolate- shelled confectionery. <IMAGE>
