Abstract

For the grinding of abrasive solids, there is used an apparatus consisting of a cylindrical body (10) lined with a plurality of metal bars (11, 12) the radial heights of which are alternately staggered. A number of hammer elements (40), mounted upon a shaft along the axis of the cylindrical body, rotate within the body, and grinding takes place between these hammer elements and the lining of metal bars. The body has an opening (30) for the supply of abrasive solid, and an opening (22), closable by a movable flap (20), for the discharge of the abrasive solid. The abrasive solid can be, for example, slag sand in which case the ground product obtained is suitable as a substitute for river sand in the production of concrete. <IMAGE>
