Abstract

A receiving element for photographic materials employing dye transfer processes comprises a carrier layer coated with a water permeable binder in which is dispersed an anionically charged polymer derived from the aqueous latex of the polymer. The charge can be derived from a monomer e.g. sodium ethene sulphonate and the rest of the polymer, because it serves only to carry the charge, is composed of monomers whose choice is not critical. Alternatively the charge can be derived from initiator or emulsifier residues left in the polymer. The polymer layer is capable of mordanting cationic dye used in the transfer process.
