Abstract

Apparatus for moulding a preformed thermoplastics material (7) comprises a thermally controllable oven (3) having an aperture (5) in a base member (2). Releasable fastenings (6) are provided to secure the preform (7) by a peripheral flange portion (9) thereof over the aperture (5). A shaped cast (13) is supported on a mechanical ram 11 such that the cast can be urged through the aperture to contact with and to mould the preform. A vacuum pumps connected via a flexible pipe 15 to a surface aperture 16 in the cast (13) whereby complete contact of the preform (7) and the cast (13) can be ensured. <IMAGE>
